Set on a working farm in the beautiful West Sussex countryside, Southend Barns has been lovingly restored to create a wonderful wedding barn venue. Surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and peaceful courtyards, it is a truly magical setting for your wedding celebration.
Our simple yet romantic Dairy Barn is fully licensed for all Civil Ceremonies and partnerships. With a sweeping aisle, exposed wooden beams and benches made of sweet chestnut, the wedding barn is a truly idyllic setting for couples to exchange vows. Nestled in a tranquil spot between our resident alpaca’s field and the romantic flint walls of the Dairy Barn is our outdoor wedding ceremony garden, known as The Secret Garden.
You can dine and dance the night away in our magnificent 200-year-old Threshing Barn which radiates rustic charm, with its authentic wooden beams and wrought iron chandeliers. The large windows provide you with stunning views of the surrounding gardens and sunsets over the South Downs.
A picturesque courtyard lies at the heart of the venue, with its luscious lawn, well-kept pots and Cornish slate patio lined with dairy inspired milk churns – it is the perfect spot for photographs and for mingling with your guests over drinks and canapés.
As evening falls, the gardens are lit with romantic up-lights that show off the fantastic flint and log walls of the wedding barns. Here guests can gather around the relaxing Collecting Yard with its sumptuous sofas and fire pit to enjoy an enchanting evening setting.The Collecting Yard has subtle glass screens so you and your guests can still enjoy being outside whatever the weather.
Relax and prepare for your big day in the calm and luxurious surroundings of the bridal suite, which is located in its own private courtyard and rose garden.

The buildings are all first class in a high end spa meets old barn type of way but what really made the day was the attention to detail that the staff have. All the staff are super friendly and so helpful too and really do make sure the day is exactly as you imagined. So many of our guests complimented on the food provided by the in house catering team as the best wedding supper they’ve ever had. Throughout the buildup & on the day they filled us with so much confidence thinking of every little detail and suggesting some fantastic local suppliers. During a final meeting in the week running up to the wedding we dropped off all decorations and the staff set all those up for us (and took them all down again) which made the evening before and morning of our wedding day so relaxing. If you’re thinking of Southend Barns there’s not one reason we can think of that would suggest you to look elsewhere, it was perfect. Book it and thank us later! Their facilities are second to none and the staff could not do more to help you. They were flexible and supportive in helping us achieve the wedding of our dreams. Everything we wanted, and a little bit more.The staff at Southend Barns made our day run smoothly and helped us to relax and really enjoy our day. We didn't have to worry about what should be happening next or whether things were in the right place, they organised everything for us, and did it exactly how we had asked. They even went the extra mile and dressed the venue with flowers we had brought along from the church after the ceremony without being asked. The venue is stunning by itself and doesn't take much, if any, decoration, we only added a few personal touches for our day. We booked the Bridal Suite and it was lovely that is was so close. It is very spacious with separate bedroom and bathroom a large communal area with sofa and dining table. It is like your own private apartment. Another nice addition was that we didn't have to do any tidying up. The staff cleared everything away and put all of our belongings into one area for us to easily collect the next day. The most important thing for us was always the venue; as well as having all the essentials, it had to all be in one place to save travelling between venues, it had to have a bit of a "wow" factor and it needed to accommodate around 100 guests of all ages. We viewed a handful of venues but Southend Barns won hands-down because of the outside space and the friendly and welcoming staff. We got married inside - as it was 30C degrees and didn't want our guests to burn/die of heatstroke - but the recently-built outside ceremony area is absolutely stunning, so we would recommend booking a viewing even just to see it! The venue is absolutely flawless, the staff are extremely organised and catered for our (very specific) needs! My husband sang me down the aisle and they made sure everything was in place to make this possible, including several practice runs. Alice was absolutely brilliant. She completely put us both at ease and on the day she kept my husband calm and collected beforehand. Every detail was thought of, and - whilst that means more time planning the day - it meant that we all knew what was happening and literally EVERYTHING went to plan. Not one thing went wrong and we just couldn't believe how smoothly the whole day went. We felt we were the only ones getting married not at the bottom of a long list of Brides and Grooms. As we drove up to the venue we knew it were there we would be married. Communication over 12 months was seamless, visits to the Barns welcome and queries dealt with. The day was perfect from 7am to 11.30pm, the staff could not have done more - especially Alice and Laura, complete stars!From our initial email enquiries to 100's of venues Southend Barns stood out from the rest. So impressed with the whole event, the day ran so smoothly thanks to the lovely, friendly staff. we really couldn't thank them enough! We only viewed 4 venues and as soon as we visited the barns we knew 100% it was the right venue for us. They helped us with all the small details, always making us feel everything was important no matter how small!Southend Barns plus in-house catering team Field & Fork made our day what it was! Our Collecting Yard with fire pit and outdoor sofas is always popular with guests. With subtle glass screens, the area can be enjoyed in all weathers and throughout the day and evening celebrations. Guests love to huddle around the fire pit toasting marshmallows and eating s'mores!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
We try to be as sustainable as possible, from the eco-friendly materials used in the refurbishment to the bio mass boiler and our home-grown produce which features in our menus.
