Our venue incorporates the historic Fox & Goose Inn, one of the oldest hostelries in Derbyshire with an abundance of charm and character. It was presented to the Monks of Beauchief Abbey in a license granted by Richard II in 1392. We have maintained some of our original features which are still visible throughout the venue, making it one of the most historical and idyllic venues in Derbyshire and the surrounding areas for your wedding day.
For those of you who don’t want to miss a moment of our beautiful surroundings and stunning views, not only do we have the Abbey Suite, the Orangery and the Priory Room, we have the perfect setting on Pudding Pie hill for an intimate occasion or a spectacular Marquee or Tipi wedding for up to 250 guests and anything in between. We understand that Marquee weddings may traditionally be held during the warmer months, but our facilities and impeccable attention to detail allows couples and guests to enjoy the surroundings whatever the weather may be. Our marquee is framed by our impressive woodland area and enjoys the benefit of its own outside seating area, with our manicured lawns, a sublime spot for your guests to enjoy the views of Derbyshire and when the evening draws in you and your guests will be blown away by the most breath-taking sunset. Every Marquee wedding can be tailored to suit your personal tastes and vision for your day, because after everything, it is YOUR day. - MMartin and Frank23/07/2018Fabulous DayFabulous DayWe held our Wedding here on 7th July. What can I say..FANTASTIC! From the moment we arrived till the very end of the day the staff were excellent. They were very friendly and helped make everything run so smoothly. A special thank you to Sadie Chapman who is the Wedding planner. Sadie bent over backwards to make our day run perfectly and contantly looked after us. Sadie was always on the end of the phone either by call or text to answer any questions. She gave us really good advice on everything from food, drinks, seating, timings throughout the day and much much more (including handing us a drink of Dutch courage prior to the ceremony..2 large gins..LOL The food was fantastic! From the Wedding breakfast through to the evening buffet. We had the beef for the main course as part of our Wedding breakfast and it just melted in your mouth. To get that quality for over 50 people is no mean feat. The vegetarians all said how much they had enjoyed their food also. Compliments to the Chef(s). We opted to have a partly italian flavor to the evening buffet. Scrumptious yet again with choices of pasta, lasagne, pizza and various other alternate sundries (the quality was second to non). Thanks to the DJ also who made the evening swing. I gave him a list of do's & dont's prior to the day and he was spot on. Don't think the dance floor was ever empty. Friends and family all said how much they had enjoyed the day which we found quite heartwarming. The atmosphere throughout the day was so relaxed. We have to say the Fox and Goose did us proud. Our guests did too - especially loving the view downhill towards town whilst enjoying their welcome drinks. Lynne was fantastic before, during and after. Approachable and honest. She has this way of turning your ideas into a reality - however odd you think they may be. I was an absolute mess on the day, I have never felt as nervous or as on edge, Lynne was there every step of the way. I can't thank her enough. Any questions I had on the run up she answered quickly and easily which is what every bride needs! The food was also delicious! Everyone loved the hog roast and accompaniments. They also drew many compliments. The organisation was spot on and everything was handled professionally. The staff make this place, everyone is so friendly. Shout out to Tristan who helped us out on more than one occasion. The venue is a quaint delight, the staff spot on and the food amazing. We could not have asked any more of the Fox and Goose. A lot of this was down to Lynne our wedding co-ordinator and the friendly team at The Fox and Goose. From the moment we chose the venue, we were made to feel very welcome whenever we came for leisure or wedding prep purposes. Lynne made us feel comfortable and confident about our special day. She helped to make us feel relaxed by answering all our questions big and small. The day before we left her with all of our carefully prepared decor which she used so well to create 'our' wedding and even added her own touches that gave it the 'wow' factor. She really was our Fairy Godmother - she even went beyond the call of duty by redesigning my dress for the first dance. Fox and Goose is a wonderful venue , I would recommend to any bride and groom. Sadie is their wedding planner and nothing was too much to ask in the 4 months while we planned our big day. She was always only a text away and was so reassuring, helpful and full of great advice, tips and ideas. She even offered to help keep our toddler distracted if he had one of his tantrums! We opted for the hog roast & BBQ with 85 guests and everyone had a wonderful time and loved the food. I still get friends telling me how much they loved the food! The staff were so kind and helpful, and treated us like royalty on the day. Nothing was too much for them and Sadie even helped us get the best prices on things such as local florists, her wealth of knowledge and desire to help is fantastic! The scenery around the Fox & Goose is simply stunning with incredible views of the peaks & we got some great pictures. We liked the place from the first time we visited and we came for several meals in the run up to our big day, each meal was absolutely perfect - we highly recommend their SteakWich! Cooked to perfection! If you are thinking of having your wedding here, please do not hesitate to book. There are no sneaky hidden costs, everything is included and Sadie is great at making up a plan to suit you and your budget. The location is beautiful, the views breathtaking, the building is cosy and romantic, the staff are all fabulous and the food is flawless. The whole staff team were professional, friendly and helpful. Sadie, our wedding planner, was amazing and we can’t thank her enough for going above and beyond to make our day so perfect. Tristan, our MC, was professional and so well organised and calm. Fantastic. The food was spectacular and our guests are still talking about it now! Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
We had a Wedding in April 2018 where 2 local paramedics got married. A few months before the wedding the Brides dad suffered a cardiac arrest and the groom did CPR until the ambulance arrived and saved his now Father in Laws life. Their wedding was a local news story as her dad was able to walk her down the aisle. It was a very emotional and beautiful day and was actually on the local news. I still stay in contact with this couple.
