The setting is stunning, the food was fantastic, and the organisation spot on. A lot of guests said that it was the best wedding reception that they had been to. The combination of outdoor and indoor space was perfect - the beautiful weather helped to enable people to sit outside in the evening. Gabriela, Will, Mo and the team did everything they could to make the day special, and it was. It will be a day that I will always have in my heart - I can't thank the Compleat Angler team enough for what they did. Fantastic 3 course wedding breakfast also. The wedding coordinator, Gabriela, was very helpful in the planning and lead up to the wedding day. Also the team on the day were great, service was prompt, in particular Mo, who was always happy to help and nothing was too much trouble. Cristina was an amazing wedding planner and everything went exactly to plan even though I added one guest on the day which they immediately accommodated. It is a great location for a special event with lawns down to the river. The banqueting and events team led by Cristina did a superb job and everything was arranged with care and precision down to the smallest detail. Cristina made sure the day went smoothly and her team were very attentive throughout. We would highly recommend the venue and with Cristina helping you plan your big day you know you'll be in safe hands.We had our wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast at The Compleat Angler in May. - NNick20/04/2021Wonderful Wedding Ceremony and Reception at the Compleat AnglerWonderful Wedding Ceremony and Reception at the Compleat AnglerWe first met Gavin (the Manager at the Complete Angler) at the beginning of June 2020 when, despite the COVID restriction, the seeds were set to proceed with our rearranged marriage Ceremony on the only possible date available to us, Friday 28th August 2020. It was down to Gavin's enthusiasm at this meeting and thereafter that convinced us both that even if we could not have a meaningful Reception we could nevertheless have the Ceremony conducted at the Compleat Angler and in the delightful setting that it offers. We remained in the dark as to just how far we could go with having a Reception right up to the 14th August when, happily for us, Boris relaxed the restrictions. What was most telling is that from that date forth the professionalism of Cristina (Events Manager) the team at the Hotel kicked-in not only to ensure that both Ceremony and Reception were conducted strictly in accordance with COVID guidelines but that on the day itself everything proceeded seamlessly from beginning to end. We couldn't have asked for more, everything was just as we had wanted it and, as we now know, very much enjoyed by our restricted number of invited guests. We remain grateful to Gavin, Cristina and the team for the flexibility shown throughout the whole process during these difficult times. It is a great compliment that the Hotel essentially took care of everything for us on the day, this we shall remain eternally grateful for. We were due to get married on the 4th of April 2020 in a different venue however due to COVID this was not possible. After rearranging the wedding to the 12th December, 5 weeks before, our venue cancelled. Initially gutted, we started looking for alternative venues. Then came the Compleat Angler. Let me start by saying we wished we had our wedding here from the start. The scenery is beautiful, the location is second to none and the star of the show was our wedding planner Cristina. Although we only had a matter of weeks to pull this together, Cristina was flexible in organising both face-to-face and virtual tours. The virtual tours were even made available to family members including some who were abroad at the time, helping everyone to feel included. Cristina remained calm through our constant requests and updates; preparing mince pies for our guests on arrival; accommodating sparklers for after our meal; and organising roasted chestnuts and mulled wine to have into the evening. All these small details combined with her attention to detail, professionalism and bubbly personality contributed to the best day of our lives. We are both real foodies and for us the food was a really important element of the day. We can honestly say that every dish that came out exceeded our already high expectations. All of the canapés and courses were absolutely delicious. Every member of staff, from Cristina, to the receptionists, to the waiters, to Gavin the general manager, couldn’t have made our journey, our stay and our day more wonderful. The way the team looked after us from start to finish will never be forgotten as they went above and beyond in every way. I know the entire wedding party thought the same. Our room (the Windsor Suite) made us feel like royalty and the whole experience has made us think of the Compleat Angler as a home away from home. We will continue to visit the hotel for as long as possible for our anniversary, as every time we visit we are flooded with nothing but happy memories. I also want to mention the boat trip down the river on the Kingfisher. Steve did an amazing job and made our day extra special. If you’re having your wedding here, or if your just staying for the night, this is a must. Finally, to anyone planning a wedding during these uncertain times and beyond, we thoroughly recommend the Compleat Angler as no matter what the circumstance they will make it the day you have dreamt of.
