Butley Priory is an enchanting wedding venue like no other. Located only two hours from London and hidden within an area of outstanding natural beauty in the wilds of a Suffolk forest. This once 12th Century monastery provides a truly unique setting being quoted recently by Vogue as being: ‘one of the most romantic houses in England’. Grand or intimate, indoors or out, sophisticated or outrageous, it’s up to you. Butley provides an unforgettable setting for all styles and celebrations. Hosting intimate in-house weddings for up to 80 family and friends or a festival style wedding with unlimited numbers, on the front lawn. Even more, the grounds can allow for marquees, tipis and even glamping villages which are all set in perfect privacy. Only two hours drive from London, with accommodation for up to 15 people, the house is also available to let for family reunions, corporate events, location hire or retreats. What a day! Magical. What a day! Magical.
Butley priory is a really magical place for a wedding. We got married here in October, the south face Garden means the light was flooding and was beautiful, it also makes for a really grand yet homely feel in the evening with the fireplaces. It was truly enchanting. We can not praise or thank Emma at Butley enough, she was incredibly helpful, nothing was too much hassle and she was incredibly calm and organised on the day. It wouldn't have been as easy without her. Butley priory is a really magical place for a wedding. Instantly fell in love Instantly fell in love
Located in a beautiful, tranquil forest setting, Butley Priory is the most enchanting and romantic venue to hold a wedding. The rooms in the priory are stunning but also comfy, warm and inviting. My husband and I instantly fell in love with not only the look of the place but also the special feel it gives you. We booked our wedding day for 14 April (2018) and what a fabulous day it was! Everything was perfect - even the clement weather. The ceremony was held in the Great Hall and the atmosphere felt so intimate and relaxed. The room looked stunning, having been decorated with country flowers and candles! We loved the fact that we were permitted a free hand to decorate the rooms ourselves, although very little was required as the priory is very beautiful as it is. Photos and bubbly under a blue sky in the gardens full of sunny daffodils was followed by a marvellous wedding breakfast. Thank you to Paul the chef and all the catering staff who produced a delicious three course meal and dealt seamlessly with the various dietary requirements. Our guests praised the meal and said it was the best food they had ever been served at a wedding. Clare and Sarah had great organisational skills leading up to the wedding and everything was sorted with very little fuss. Thank you also to Emma who worked tirelessly on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly.....which it did! You cannot help but fall in love with Butley Priory. It is seeped in history, has the most extraordinary architecture with soaring ceilings, open fireplaces and quirky nooks and crannies. It is truly a most charming, intimate and romantic venue for a wedding. Had such an amazing day yesterday at our wedding at the Butley Priory. The staff were fantastic, the food was lovely and the atmosphere was so perfect. It’s everything we dreamt of and more. Couldn’t fault it whatsoever. Everything was seamless. It flowed so perfectly and we really loved every minute. The staff throughout the whole day were so attentive and helpful. It was truly wonderful ?? we loved every minute. Thank you so much!Had such an amazing day yesterday at our wedding at the Butley Priory. We got married at Butley Priory in January 2017 and had the most beautiful day. The venue is so unique and elegant, it was the first and last venue we looked around, and decided straight away we wanted to get married here. We had a small ceremony and chose the in-house food and drinks package which worked perfectly. We have had so many compliments on the food, the venue, everything was perfect and stress free. What a shame you only do it once!We got married at Butley Priory in January 2017 and had the most beautiful day. The venue is so unique and elegant, it was the first and last venue we looked around, and decided straight away we wanted to get married here. Me and my husband were fortunate enough to celebrate our wedding day at this gorgeous place. Such character, charm and charisma, needless to say we had the most special day ever! The most unique, stunning venueThe most unique, stunning venue
We got married here in 2010 and it was the most unique, stunning venue. So different than the formualted weddings on offer at hotels elsewhere. Suffolk's best kept secret venue. We got married here on a Sunday in February 2017. We stayed the night and had just the best time. The in house food was excellent and some (very)special dietary requirements catered for without a glitch. Such a wonderful building and marvelous help in the planning. I can't believe that we lived in the locality for so long without knowing that the Priory was there! An absolute treasure. We are looking to book again for a family reunion. It's such a pleasure to be able to recommend a place so unreservedly.Suffolk's best kept secret venue. We got married here on a Sunday in February 2017.
