Ellingham hall is a privately owned venue set in eight stunning acres of Northumbrian countryside. The Estate includes the elegant country house with 17 bedrooms, seven luxury cottages and extensive gardens for a unique and entirely exclusive two-night wedding experience to remember.
The venue excels with its period charm interwoven with modern day luxury. From high ceilings and underground games rooms, to architectural periodic features and a show stopping staircase - the perfect choice for a seriously wow-factor wedding with all the boutique hotel details.
With luscious lawns, peaceful streams, mini waterfalls and enchanted Woodlands, Ellingham has no shortage of breathtakingly beautiful outdoor spaces. To help you maximise the grounds on your big day, the venue also offers the use of rooftop terraces, a drinks reception patio, outdoor ceremonies and our much loved adventure treehouses.
With Hall hire sleeping 32 people, or Estate hire sleeping 68 guests, couples are given an opportunity to enjoy time with their nearest and dearest both on the big day and the night before.
What’s included;
Exclusive use of the Hall and grounds, including all 17 beautiful presented bedrooms in the main hall for a two-night wedding celebration (32 guests)
Express check-in from 4pm the night prior to your wedding
Evening food for Hall guests and a fully staffed bar the night prior to the wedding

- SSophie and Dan23/12/2019If we could do it all again, we certainly would and it would without question be with youIf we could do it all again, we certainly would and it would without question be with youDriving through the quaint gates of Ellingham Hall and then down the secret garden style driveway, our interest had certainly been captured. As the driveway opened up, the view of the Hall and its grounds were enough to make us turn to each other, smiling in appreciation of what lay before us and undoubtedly in acknowledgement, that this might just be the one. As if the views externally were not enough, arriving in the entrance lounge of Ellingham, we instantly felt at home. We were greeted by a beaming and bubbly individual, who now, after the wedding we both agree, can only be described as the real world fairy godmother of Ellingham Hall, Wendy. We arrived with our then, 8 month old little boy, crawling at what felt like Mach-2, inquisitive beyond reason and having both our nerves on edge. Little did we know, this wouldn't phase our wonderful host, the 2 hit it off instantly, wide smiles, laughter and plenty of cuddles put both, my now Wife and I at ease. With reflection I would now say it was this initial interaction that made our choice so easy. It wasn't the beauty of the Halls exterior, nor the elegance of its interior. It was this sole woman who made us feel like she had welcomed us into 'her home', like family from a far, it was Wendy. The challenge we truly faced in making our wedding happen was doing so around the complexity of military life. 4 months to go from nothing to everything is a big ask for many brides, never mind the wedding coordinator behind the bride. It will come as no surprise that Wendy took this in her stride as well, arguably more so than we both did and gave us the confidence that our dream day was more than achievable and had the full support of the team at Ellingham. Date changes to menu tastings were aplenty, delays in correspondence on our behalf and regular changes to the events plan are but to name a few of the complexities. What we thought were wedding changing difficulties, Wendy simplified and provided an answer, she went above and beyond excellent service in accommodating our, what I can only imagine as difficult, circumstances. Eventually, without a hitch, we made it to our wedding weekend. Now my lacking description of exactly what and how much the staff did for us that weekend is in itself testament to their efforts. Everything was seamless, the whole weekend transitioned naturally and if I am honest the magic of the Ellingham staff is that you don't even realise they are there. Having met 10 years ago working in a wedding venue ourselves, we both know the challenges the team face. From the brides wedding shoes falling apart as she descends the Halls staircase on her way to the Church (Wendy again thanks, Connor and the superglue, you too!), getting the wedding breakfast out to 90 guests without any difficulty (particularly after the groom has rambled through his speech and delayed the service, apologies!) to enabling the after party for over 120, now even more tipsy guests, and cleaning up the numerous smashed glasses on the dancefloor that the groom has dropped due to rather aggressive dance moves. These are but to name a few, there are undoubtedly many more. I certainly can not do any of you justice with the written word but perhaps the knowledge that every single person in attendance had an incredible day and were full of praise for you all the morning after, will go the rest of the way that my words fail to. Ellingham Hall, the venue, all the staff and in particular Wendy are fantastic, if we could do it all again, we certainly would and it would without question be with you all again. We had so many comments from people praising the venue and commenting how relaxed they felt. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we had the best weekend of our life. What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Get yourselves a wedding email! Not just to help with regards to planning in general but you can get all your RSVP's to go there and also all your information from suppliers - often wedding inbox's can be full and it's easy for wedding information to get lost! It's also easier to monitor your junk folder from a dedicated wedding email address and as many emails from venues or suppliers will jump in there for the first time.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
We have so many at the venue both in and out, but our couples' favourites are in front of our window - it's an original feature for the venue dating back from teh 1800's and both couples and guests use it as a backdrop all the time (it's definitely our signature). For the staff, we love when couples take a stroll down through the woodlands and have pictures by our waterfalls!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We've hosted quite a few from presenters to England cricket stars and we have a big wedding in 2020 with lots of guests with familiar guests!

We're very well known in the North East for our iconic window located on the first floor mezzanine in the Chapel, that and our beautiful staircase which photographs perfectly as couples walk down heading towards the aisle
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Our customer service to couples and guests. We pride ourselves in investing in our team to make sure we have only the best set of people to look after you on your journey with us. Our General Manager has over ten years experience with the venue, as does our Wedding and Events Manager, meaning you're in very capable hands. Our team have won awards as a whole and also in their own rights. Most recently our Head of Weddings and Events, Wendy Sproul won Wedding Coordinator of the Year in 2018 at the North East Wedding Awards.
