Home of the 'Light Blues' Ely boathouse was born from the need of the men, women and lightweights of Cambridge University boat clubs for a place for hard athletic work to fit around demanding academic schedules. The boathouse is an ecologically designed place of beauty and comfort. Not only that, but 'This is where we prepare to win boat races'. This iconic building is perfectly suited for private hire for anything from breakfast meetings, conferences to birthdays and weddings. It is a state of the art facility where architects have balanced function with aesthetics and produced a large, comfortable, well equipped building. Ely boathouse offers a truly unique experience, you can have a tour of the Boathouse by one of our rowers, have an Olympian speak at your event and even have a go in the boats! There is plenty of outside space for a marquee and we work with renowned local caterers and event specialists to help plan your special day.
