Description
York Maze is a fantastic rural venue, perfect for the less formal wedding or reception.
When we close as a visitor attraction we take down all the maze related paraphernalia and return the site to the beautiful farmstead it naturally is.
We are located in the open countryside on the way to Elvington, on the south side of York. Although we are in the countryside, we are only 7 miles from the city centre.
We will work with you to make the day your own, you can use the site as you wish, decorate it as you wish and you can do as much or as little as you want.
So many places do not give you the freedom to create your own special day.
We have a wide range of brick and timber barns, connected to a south facing wooden terrace which is covered by a barn with optional removeable sides.
The larger timber barn has a stage at one end, ideal for bands or DJ’s.
And a smaller stage at the other for the ceremony.
We charge £7000 (2019/2020 prices) for a 3 day exclusive hire (8am Friday – 3pm Sunday). Then there would be the catering cost on top of this.

- NNikki and Martin13/11/2018The most incredible day!!!The most incredible day!!!We genuinely couldn’t have asked for more! From the very start they were super helpful! The food choices were plenty and everyone on the day commented not only on the amount but how amazing it was!! The day before while we setting up we had a meeting to go through how the day was going to go and on the day as if by magic if you needed Vikki the wedding planner she was there before you even turned to look for her and was then gone again! It was most definitely 5 star service and would recommend to anybody that’s looking for a rustic , beautiful venue and wanting to move away from your typical hotel wedding! We had the best day!! The whole day was so relaxed! Vikki, Jason and the whole team were amazing!!The food was incredible(& plentiful)Jason helped us decide what we wanted and did a wonderful job, and Vikki kept the whole day moving on seamlessly! If either of us thought we needed something she appeared as if by magic! The venue is beautiful and caters to everybody. Every guest commented on how brilliant they thought the day was and that is all we could hope for! If your looking for somewhere that isn’t your typical hotel wedding you need to see this place!! Vikki: You made us feel so comfortable and made everything run so smoothly. You give us 150%, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Jason: The food was amazing and everyone of our guests commented on great it was. Thank you for all the advice. You are such a great team and we are so greatful for all the effort and attention to detail that was given. The gin menu was such a huge success, but must have given a few people hangovers in the morning :) Hopefully we will see you when we come for our our yearly family trip to the maze. Everything went to plan and the staff were very helpful and attentive but also unobtrusive.We were blessed with good weather which enabled us to use the facilities to their full advantage.Parents could relax knowing their children were entertained and safe.Special thanks to the lovely coordinator who was very professional and efficient whilst being flexible and creative with ideas. The food was delicious and served beautifully.We have been bombarded with compliments on an unforgettable weekend and we will treasure all the memories forever. Thanks again. A couple of years down the line we were engaged and knew instantly that York Maze was a top contender - we even put our deposit down 2 years before the wedding day! Finding a venue with such flexibility and inspiration for creativity is hard to find and with us wanting to really put our own stamp on the day, it ticked all the boxes. Deciding on our menu was easy and Jason was brilliant at advising us. In the end we chose the BBQ platter which was outstanding. Vikki was just brilliant. She was always at hand when you needed her and yet always knew when to give you space. The whole team allowed us to forget the potential stresses on the day and were extremely professional. - LLaura Bower11/05/2018Could not have wished for anything more perfectCould not have wished for anything more perfectWe had our wedding in April this year and could not have wished for anything more perfect. I could cry thinking about the fact that it is all over. From the moment we saw the venue we knew it was very 'us'. It is not your typical hotel and stay-over type wedding, I would say it is rustic and has a barn type feel to it. My mum and I spent a lot of time over the year leading it up to buying things to use to dress the venue. That's the great thing about it - you can decorate it exactly to your own tasting. We arrived very early to set up and I thought it would be really stressful but it was an amazing day and Vikki and Jason were amazing. We met with them and they literally knew every little thing that was going to happen on the big day - it really put me at ease. The staff there all helped out and the venue looked beyond amazing. The actual day itself was unbelievable. My bridal party and I stayed at the Nearby Primrose lodge (which is perfect and the owner is amazing, and you can have the whole place to yourself), I was 20 minutes late for the ceremony (!!!) but Vikki was very calming and knew how to deal with the situation and luckily it was all great. The actual day ran smoothly and Vikki and her staff were always there when we needed them. The food was gorgeous and everyone agreed, as we chose big sharing platters but you can have what ever you want! Everyone said it was the best wedding they had ever been to (perhaps everyone says that - I don't know). It was for us anyway and the photos are unbelievable, which says a lot about the beautiful grounds. We all camped at night in big bell tents , which was even better because we carried the party on and then all had breakfast in the morning and didn't leave until about 3:30 the next day. I was obviously heartbroken when I left. From booking until the day itself, Vikki and Jason were in touch all the time and answered every question and never once made me feel like I was a Bridezilla - which i'm sure at times, I probably was. I also felt that the overall cost of the venue was great compared to other venues that we had looked at, especially since you have it for 3 days! The only one downside was that because the place is so big and spread out across two rooms, at night it felt quite empty because everyone was spread out - that's no ones fault but it is just something worth baring in mind.
