Upper House is a historic castellated fortress set within the tranquil and intimate surroundings of 30 ares of private woodland. Standing alone on the magnificent mountain of Kinder Scout in the Peak District National Park. The sweeping driveway to the front of the property drops away to a breathtaking view of Kinder Reservoir. These incredible surroundings create a truly outstanding backdrop for your special day. Wrapped around a stunning central courtyard, Upper House comprises a Medieval Banqueting Hall, an original Inn, gardens & luxurious accommodation for up to 28 guests. It’s long history is the truly fascinating, Upper House was the secret hideaway of the biggest industrialists, politicians, royals, authors and intellectuals from the the turn of the 20th Century, & later was where Agatha Christie came to devise her legendary plots. Isolated in the 6,000 acre Kinder Estate in the North West of the Peak District in Derbyshire, Upper House feels a world away from anywhere. However the house is conveniently located from all amenities. The house is just 45 minutes drive from Manchester City Centre and Airport; 28 miles from Sheffield and 50 miles from Chester. This venue has been described as one off Britain’s hidden treasures & one of the wedding industry’s best kept secrets.

We had the most amazing wedding day here in May. Honestly, 5 stars isn't enough. When we first visited Upper House we were blown away by how beautiful the venue is and also by the amazing views. The venue is immaculate and there are so many stunning details which you notice each time you visit. Our guests had an amazing time here and we have had so many lovely comments about our day. Georgia, Nicola and Ellie couldn't do enough for us throughout the planning process and also throughout the day itself. It was very refreshing to meet owners of a venue that genuinely want you to have the best day and make you feel so welcome. This venue is not your typical 'wedding factory' which is extremely rare and a unique find. If you are thinking of visiting Upper House we are sure you will absolutely love it. Please also bear in mind there is limited availability throughout the year so book to view sooner rather than later as dates will book up quickly. Thank you for everything Georgia, Nicola & Ellie. Thank you for everything that you did behind the scenes and centre stage to ensure that all our guests had a wonderful time, the extra journeys you made to and from the village, the decorations, the fires, the flowers, the trees! The house and grounds looked amazing and people have not stopped talking about the ‘amazing venue’. The weekend was such fun and staying in the beautiful house for that duration gave both our families a lovey opportunity to unwind, relax and enjoy each others company. Shaun and I have so many fantastic memories and our wedding day, it was all that we wanted and more! Thank you for all your hard work – it did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Dream Venue!Dream Venue!
Myself and Mark would like to firstly say a huge thank you again to the lovely team at Upper House. Nicola, Georgia and Paul, from the start you were a huge help and easy to work alongside before and on our wedding weekend. I felt a massive sense of sadness when we left, I think it was because I knew I wouldn’t be coming up to Upper House anymore to visit the beautiful venue and plan my dream weekend. We as a family had a truly amazing time and are so lucky to have celebrated our day at Upper House. As a family we talk all the time about coming back and staying for the weekend. We will be back, we promise! We would love to hear have any events and open days … any excuse to come and visit Upper House again as we are so in love and always will be with our dream venue.Myself and Mark would like to firstly say a huge thank you again to the lovely team at Upper House. I have never stayed anywhere in the world where my needs were met before I even knew I had them. Exceptional service and attention to detail. The house was stocked with every item we could of needed over the weekend. Our guests raved about the House and were very disappointed to have to leave on the Monday morning. With your assistance Alix’s wedding became the fairly tale experience I wanted for my daughter and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house during the ceremony. Thank you for your incredibly hard work.
