The Cosener's House is a stunning historical venue, hidden in the medieval town of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. This intimate venue, catering for up to 80 seated guests, is filled with nooks and crannies such as the stable block and the lions gate - giving you the perfect opportunity to sneak off and take those all-important couple’s shots together as ‘Mr and Mrs’!
We pride ourselves on attention to detail and will ensure those personal touches to make your wedding day a day to remember. Our experienced wedding planner will be with you every step of the way to inspire and assist and our expert chef’s will provide you with food that will be the envy of all your guests.
When your celebrations come to a close, we have 48 en-suite bedrooms on-site for you and your guests before waking up to a delicious breakfast; the perfect way to say goodbye to your guests before starting a long and happy life together.

Everything was perfect, Lauren & Josh are amazing at what they do. Nothing was too much trouble and went above and beyond, through planning of our wedding day, the night before, the day itself, and after. Food was outstanding, staff were outstanding, this truly is a hidden peaceful gem in a busy town. A number of our guest have said they will be back privately, and I cant wait to return for our anniversaryMy husband and I got married here at the weekend. Where to begin! Please thank the chef particularly for the Portuguese tarts, which many people commented on and said how good they were. I know it was a special effort, and we're very grateful. I know we were lucky with the weather, but the garden and the games were a big hit with the children, and contributed a great deal to everyone's enjoyment. Lauren was absolutely great from day 1 - clearly really experienced at co coordinating weddings; she had lots of ideas and helped me keep everything under control, nothing was too much trouble. The day itself was perfect; the location is amazing with lovely gardens, the staff were brilliant and the food was on another level - are guests are still saying how fantastic it was! Our room was very spacious. The gardens are delightful, the house itself is goeorgous and the staff were great. Staff went over and beyond for us all. The wedding planner and hotel manager made sure the wedding went smoothly allowing family and freinds to enjoy this splended celebration. Chefs produced fantastic food for wedding meals. This was a lovely hotel in a tranquil location by the river and very quiet. This venue gave the wedding party the exact experience that was asked for. I cannot reccomend The Cosener's house enough.My daughter and husband have just had their wedding reception here. All our family stayed here. Our room was very spacious. The gardens are delightful, the house itself is goeorgous and the staff were great. Staff went over and beyond for us all. Leading up to the special day you were professional and attentive to all our needs. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do any more. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
I love it when a couple bring their personalities into their decorations - one of my favourites being a Wizard of Oz/Lord of the Rings combination. Handmade centrepieces, yellow brick roads and candy everywhere. It was magical!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Lists! Always have a notepad with you, you never know when inspiration will hit you!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Wedding favours can be very personal. One of my brides has created handmade felt gingerbread men for her guests to take away from their Christmas themed wedding - I think this is a lovely personal touch.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Anywhere outside! Lots of couples use our gates and bridges for those intimate couple shots.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
No.
What’s your favourite canapé?
Why pick a favourite? Our chef's create magnificent food, giving your guests food envy!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
I love a bacon roll... it definitely helps with the hangover!

We're full of surprises...
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Our flexibility. I understand that your wedding is individual to you and that everybody has a different budget. I work with you to create your perfect day and I make it a simple, stress-free and enjoyable experience for everyone!
