Set in the heart of Rye, and just five minutes from the vast beach at Camber Sands, The George is a Grade II listed 4-star hotel and wedding venue. Rye is one of England’s best-preserved medieval towns. The George dates back to 1575. Now one of England’s most highly regarded small hotels, it has become best known for its 'informal luxury', welcoming atmosphere and fabulous food. Available on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis, The George appeals to couples looking to create a relaxed 'house-party' vibe. From intimate celebrations for 12, to receptions for up to 120 guests, it offers complete flexibility and a friendly, personal approach. The original Georgian Ballroom complete with minstrel’s gallery, chandeliers and silk hand-painted wallpaper, is unrivalled for its elegance - it seats up to 120 guests and is licensed for civil ceremonies. The 16th century Benson room is ideal for more intimate occasions. The seasonal Wedding Breakfast menus use ingredients from the local farms and fishermen. The extensive list of fine wines and Champagne includes a number of English wines from local vineyards. There are 34 individually-designed ensuite bedrooms to choose from. Every room has been stamped with an eclectic style and the little details.

Just wanted to say thank you for the kind care and attention delivered by you, Ben and Paul on the day of our wedding and in fact the warm welcome and care to attention and detail, where nothing was too much trouble from the whole team at the George. Especially the reception team the night before. We had such a truly wonderful day, in no small part down to you and your team, we ran Ben and Paul ragged with drinks and last minute requests and they came up trumps with a smile on their faces every single time, The food was stunning upstairs and downstairs and we really appreciated the little details, attention to detail with candles etc. that I hadn’t had to worry about or get involved in. I would wholeheartedly recommend The George as a venue for any occasion and can assure you that it will be a place of choice for a night away or special occasion in the future. Can’t recommend you all highly enough. The ballroom and Benson room looked amazing and the food and drink was delicious. All the staff were brilliant, nothing was ever too much trouble and assisted where possible- it was seamless."
